Goat Rocks Wilderness 2021

Amy, Juliana, Sheri, Suzan (aka The Old Grey Mares)

We hiked from Walupt Lake, joined the PCT above Sheep Lake and hiked out to White Pass, about 45 miles total with a day hike to Goat Lake. Definitely one of our most beautiful hikes. Lots of PCT hikers, lovely wildflowers, great weather.

Day 1: Hiked from Walupt Lake to Sheep Lake via Nannie Ridge. Then we caught the PCT above Sheep Lake and hiked over Cispus Pass to camp at Cispus Basin. We had lovely views of Mount Adams along the way and camped in a meadow of wildflowers.

Day 2: Short hike from Cispus Basin to our amazing camp below Old Snowy. From our camp, we had views of Mt. Rainier, Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Adams, Goat Lake, and Old Snowy. Set up camp, then hiked up Old Snowy. 6.7 miles total.

Day 4: Hiked the amazing Knife's Edge, past the Packwood Glacier. Then hiked around past McCall Glacier and Basin, Tieton Pass, and on to our camp at Hidden Springs (which was incredibly buggy and not nearly as pretty as it sounds). 12ish tough miles.

Day 5: Hidden Springs to White Pass (8.6 miles). The first mile or two were buggy, uphill, and forested. But things opened up before Shoe Lake, and the rest of the hike was lovely and blissfully downhill.
