Lake Chelan - Sawtooth Wilderness 2020

Juanita Lake

Hiked from the Eagle Lakes trailhead above Lake Chelan through the wilderness to Stehekin. After the first day, we did not see a soul until day five, when we saw one other hiker.
Sheri, Amy, Suzan, Juliana

Day 1: Eagle Lakes trailhead up to our camp at Upper Eagle Lake (7 miles). Lots of wildflowers...which means lots of bugs. Camp at Upper Eagle was beautiful and had SWARMS of mosquitoes.

Hiking with goats is a thing, apparently...

Day 2: Upper Eagle Lake, over Horsehead Pass to Boiling Lake. Lunch at the top of Chipmunk Pass, second lunch at Prince Creek. Then a long, hot, buggy slog up an unnamed pass that we affectionately named "Call Me a Helicopter Pass." Finally stumbled into camp after 14 miles and hill after hill of hiking.

Day 3: Beautiful day of hiking for Suzan's 65th birthday (which we celebrated with cake!). Hiked over a couple of passes that we called Panorama Pass and Birthday Pass, then down and up again to our beautiful campsite at Juanita Lake. 9 miles.

Day 4: Juanita Lake along the Boulder Creek trail down to Rainbow Bridge. Hiked 11 miles, dropping 4600 feet. Passed through lots of burn areas, as well as forests, meadows, and sweeping vistas.

Day 5: Quick 2-mile jaunt down the trail to Stehekin. Took a side trip to Rainbow Falls, stopped by the bakery for goodies, and caught the ferry down to Chelan.
