Sheri and I took a quick trip to Mount Rainier to hike a piece of the Wonderland Trail. We started at Sunrise and hiked just past Indian Bar to the Cowlitz Divide trail junction and came out through Ollallie Creek Campground and Silver Falls. Total mileage came out around 27 miles over two days.
Day 1: Hiked from Sunrise to Summerland, with lots of forest hiking and lovely Rainier views. We had fun water crossings at White River and Frying Pan Creek, hiked through meadows of wildflowers, and saw a few marmots (and lots of chipmunks). Weather was perfect, except for the humidity. Bugs and people were in relatively short supply.

Day 2: Summerland to Ohanapecosh Campground (16ish miles) Lovely views, tiring day. Up and down is one thing, but when it includes thousands of stairs, it takes a toll. Once we left the Wonderland Trail at Ollallie Creek, the last five miles through the forest were a bit of a slog. Overall, however, a great hike!
