Day 13: Tardajos to Castrojeriz
Welcome to the Meseta! Add in a stiff wind at my back, a few tractors ploughing the fields, and a couple of random villages, and you have the first two thirds of my day.
Early-ish start from Tardajos. My albergue there was like a hotel, complete with a wonderful restaurant (mushroom risotto, monkfish is a tomato sauce, and 5 chocolate cake). Of course, the hotel room had bunk beds containing a Belgian walker and two Spanish cyclists, but they were quiet roommates.
Lots of this along today’s walk
and this
With a few of these to break up the scenery.
Lunch stop in Hontanas
Passed through the ruins of the convent of San Antón
After 17 miles of walking, arrived at my amazing albergue in Castrojeriz: Espacio Interior. So incredibly peaceful!
Preparing for pre-dinner meditation session. Meditating on abundance this evening.
Family-style vegetarian dinner. Out incredible host, Nia, on the right.
To end the evening on a perfect note, we hiked up the hill to the castle ruins to watch the sunset and moonrise over Castrojeriz.
