Day 15: Villarmentero de Campos to Calzadilla de la Cueza
All. Day. Long.
They say you either love the meseta or you hate it.
I don’t love it.
There is a reason I was thrilled to leave the Midwest and move to the Pacific Northwest. Hot sun, dust, and lack of scenery are not a good combination for me.
Did I mention blisters?
But then signs like this show up out of nowhere.
And random locals point me in the right direction.
And Camino angels set up popup pilgrim cafes. (Granted, they do a brisk business and come out on top, but still…so nice to have fresh squeezed orange juice in the middle of a long stretch of dusty road.)
And my day started with this at my back.
And Brad made me a playlist.
And my eSIM works again.
And I made it to my albergue and got a hot shower.
And I found a heart.
So life is good.
And pilgrim dinner was delightful. Yummy food and reconnected with friends.
