Day 17: Bercianos to Puente Villarente

I love starting my day early and watching the sunrise while I walk! Feeling much better today. I had a surprisingly good sleep, and my blisters seem to be healing.

Also, the scenery is improving as we near the end of the meseta. I walked with a man for a bit today who walked the Camino Francés last year and came back this year to walk just the meseta. I’m befuddled.

To further sweeten the day, I had torrija (Spanish version of French toast) for second breakfast this morning.

More clouds today and even a little rain made for a rather pleasant walk. Listened to music for a bit, and talked with random folks from South Korea, England, Belgium, and Florida. I’ll have dinner with my friend Brigitte this evening before relaxing in my own private room. Ah!

This is not a fancy hotel by any stretch, but I cannot effectively convey the luxury of having a bedroom and bathroom all to myself.

Naturally, I have decorated my whole room with drying laundry. Because that’s what one does.

Now I just have to wait until 8:30pm for dinner. Europeans…😂

Short walk to León tomorrow.
