Day 21: Astorga to Foncebadón

Today marks 3 weeks straight of walking between 7 and 22 miles a day (usually at least 15). I have 9 days,144 miles, and an undetermined number of adventures before I reach Santiago.

Today’s walk felt and looked more like hiking, and aside from severely annoying flies, it was lovely.

The forests sometimes remind me of home.

More random works of art in nature

Even some roadside poetry

I’m not sure of the significance of the dice, but cool nonetheless.

And memorials to pilgrims past appear fairly frequently.

I found an open church and stopped in to soak up some peace.

Dry stone walls, made without mortar, frequently mark the boundaries between fields.

Arrived at my albergue at 2pm and was still the last one there. Plenty of time to relax before a pizza dinner next door.

Pizza was delicious! Italian pizza made by our albergue host. I highly recommend the Brie and smoked ham pizza. Dinner companions from South Korea, Slovenia, and Brazil this evening. No need for my broken Spanish!

I’m so enjoying your adventure. It looks like the Camino has provided a wonderful experience for you. Enjoy Galacia. I too feel at home there
