Day 26: Samos to Ferreiros

I passed through Sarria today. Just over 100km from Santiago, Sarria is the most popular starting point for pilgrims. The Sarria pilgrims are a bit of a different breed. They tend to walk in groups more, and they only walk for a week or so. Consequently, the Camino begins to take on a slightly different vibe.

But my day started with another peaceful walk through the woods. At times, mint lined the path, making the air smell delightful. And so many songbirds! Several times I paused just to listen.

The path led through tiny villages, several of which consist of just one house with what I assume is a small church.

Again, I walked along the river for much of the day.

Lunch in Sarria

Then back to the forest

Pamplona has the running of the bulls. In Galicia, apparently we found the running of the sheep. Much less aggressive.

I spent the afternoon sauntering, as one does when surrounded by meadows in late summer.

Settled into my albergue, then rounded out the evening with drinks, dinner, and deep conversation with new friends from Holland and Australia.

I will forever look for yellow arrows to point me in the right direction.

And random hearts to remind me of my priorities.

Amazing progress. I love doing this vicariously, through you. Especially because I could never make it myself. You are almost there. Finish strong.
