Day 6: Estella to Torres del Rio

Day 6: Estella to Torres del Rio

Wide open spaces and very rural today, once I left the outskirts of Estella. 626 km left to go, as I’ve completed 141 km so far. Tomorrow I leave the Navarra region behind and enter the La Rioja region.

4km out of Estella is the Camino-famous Fuente de Vino, a fountain that delivers wine out of one spigot and water out of the other. Swished and spit the wine. Wasn’t impressed. 😂

Second breakfast at L’Antorcha in Azqueta, with fresh squeezed orange juice and a view was divine.

One little town after Azqueta, and then a long stretch of countryside before Los Arcos.

Food truck in the middle of the expanse was delightful!

Add in a few vineyards and random castles/monasteries on far off hills, and you have a good idea of my scenery for the day.

Lunch on the square in Los Arcos before heading back out to the expanse for another 7km until Sansol.

Approaching Sansol on very tired legs. Torres del Rio is just a kilometer or so beyond Sansol.

Courtyard of La Pata de Oca, my albergue for the evening.

I’m looking forward to getting my Camino legs. You’d think with all the running and hiking I do that I’d be in good shape. But I am SORE. A little better than yesterday, thankfully, but I’m doing lots of stretching and massage (and wincing). Still feeling so blessed for this experience, however.
