Day 7: Torres del Rio to Navarrete

I entered the La Rioja region halfway through the day today. Lots of miles (20) on sore legs today, so I was pretty beat by the time I got to Navarrete and had to elevate my legs for a bit. Fortunately, I had interesting walking companions today who helped the miles go by quickly. And at this point in the albergue, many of the pilgrims are dealing with tired, sore legs. 108 miles in 7 days takes a toll.

Left my albergue early enough this morning to see the sunrise. We had a peaceful start to the day, walking through countryside.

More vineyards and olive groves. La Rioja seems to be a significant wine producing region.

10km to the first town and breakfast. The ruins of the San Pedro church in Viana caught my eye. The church was bombed during the Carlista wars in the early 1800s.

Couldn’t resist a peak inside one of the cathedrals in LogroƱo.

So happy to see my albergue and put my feet up before a plentiful pilgrim dinner at a local cafe.
